Manchester City’s Phil Foden, while named Man of the Match for his wonder strike, expressed mixed feelings after their 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

The Etihad side exchanged blows with Los Blancos in a thrilling encounter. Foden’s thunderbolt from outside the box on 66 minutes cancelled out Real Madrid’s lead, built on a Ruben Dias own goal and a Rodrygo finish. Bernardo Silva’s early goal for City set the tone for a high-scoring match.

Despite the six-goal spectacle at the Santiago Bernabeu, Foden wasn’t entirely satisfied. He acknowledged the positives but highlighted areas for improvement.

“We’re a little disappointed, especially after going 3-2 up,” Foden admitted. “We could’ve controlled it better. We conceded from their goal kick, and they scored a fantastic goal. We can’t dwell on it, though. There are many positives and things we can improve for the second leg.”

Foden also spoke about his magnificent goal, attributing it to his dedication on the training ground.

“I felt a good connection with the ball,” he explained. “We practice those shots in training all the time. Sometimes they don’t go in, but I’m just happy it found the top corner today.”
