Ghana to receive critical medical supplies after intervention by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
A shipment of $45 million worth of medical supplies, vital for fighting HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, was stuck at port due to unpaid fees. Recognizing the urgency, Ms. Julie Essiam, Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, met with the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) to find a solution.
Prioritizing Public Health
While acknowledging the importance of revenue collection, Ms. Essiam emphasized the GRA’s commitment to public health. She pledged to work with the Ministries of Finance and Health to ensure a swift release of the supplies.
