The People’s National Convention (PNC) announced the conclusion of a three-year-long leadership dispute on April 8th, 2024.

The High Court upheld the National Executive Committee’s (NEC) decision to indefinitely suspend General Secretary Janet Nabla for alleged misconduct, insubordination, and incompetence.

Nabla had previously contested the suspension imposed in August 2021 following recommendations by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

The PNC released a statement celebrating the court’s ruling as an opportunity to move forward. The verdict paves the way for restructuring party organs and electing new executives in preparation for the 2024 elections.

The party framed the judgement as a victory for unity, urging internal factions to “bury their differences” and work collaboratively towards a stronger PNC.

This decision signifies a potential turning point for the party’s stability and future direction.
