Write three story highlights President Akufo-Addo has stated that his administration will ensure that it sets impeccable conditions in place in the country for the upcoming December 7 elections to enable the people of Ghana to choose their preferred leader for the four years ahead after his term of office expires on 7 January 2025.
The assurance of free and fair elections, according to President Akufo-Addo, is also extended to all of Ghana’s European partners, noting that his government will do everything within its mandate to make sure that the country’s enviable democratic credentials are maintained and improved after the 7 December general election.
Akufo-Addo made this known when he addressed a joint press conference with the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, who is on a three-day state visit to Ghana, at the foyer of the Jubilee House after the two leaders held a tete a tete meeting at the ceremonial room at the seat of Ghana’s presidency.
“This December, we are going to have the 9th presidential and parliamentary elections of the 4th Republic of Ghana and I want to assure you and through you, all our friends in Europe that we as a government led by me, will make sure that the conditions of the elections are impeccable, that we have transparent, free, credible elections in Ghana to give the Ghanaian people the opportunity and the right to choose who will be their leader four years from now,” President Akufo-Addo said.
“My own term is coming to an end with the election. I would have been in office for 8 years, and I think that is enough for any one person, ” President Akufo-Addo further stated in his remarks.
The Italy President, Sergio Mattarella, in his statement, noted that the future of the world lies in how individual countries cooperate with each other because the success and growth of each country enriches the growth of all others.
He observed that there is a strong bond that exists between Ghana and Italy, and his country is looking forward to stepping up the relations and improving the same.
