IES Cautions GRIDCo To Be Transparent To ECG
- The Institute for Energy Security (IES) urges Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to openly communicate the current state of the power sector.
- IES says GRIDCo should provide a clear estimate of guaranteed power supply to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for effective load management.
- IES recommends the Public Utility and Regulatory Commission (PURC) to audit GRIDCo and Volta River Authority (VRA) for full cost recovery assessment.
The Institute for Energy Security (IES) is calling for greater transparency in Ghana’s power sector.
It is urging the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to openly communicate the current state of the power grid.
The IES believes this information is vital for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to effectively manage its load based on the available power supply.
“Such an information is vital for the ECG to plan its load response with a timetable,” the IES added in a statement signed and issued by its Executive Director, Nana Amoasi VII on April 1.
“The Public Utility and Regulatory Commission (PURC) must look beyond the ECG to audit the upstream segment of the power sub-sector, particularly the GRIDCo, and export sales by the Volta River Authority (VRA),” it added.
