Otumfuo Summons Antoa and Kwaso Elders

The traditional elders of Antoa and Kwaso have been summoned to appear before Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace when the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) convenes next week.

The summon is in relation to the delayed enstoolment of a new chief after their respective chiefs were destooled for misconduct almost a year ago.

During the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on March 21, 2024, Otumfuo enquired about the incentive for the delay to which the Adonteng division had no answers, prompting the declaration of a summon.

“Meet the Antoa Abusuapanin and the Kwaso Abusuapanin and bring them here on Monday {March 25, 2024},” he said.

Destoolment of Kwasohene
Kwasohene Nana Nketia Boampong II was destooled on June 8, 2024, for bribery, violation of the Great Oath and alcoholism.

In his judgement, Otumfuo noted that Nana Nketia Boampong II engaged in extortion when he demanded money from a candidate for the Dikro stool of the Worakese community.

He also said he went against his oath of office- in honesty- when he lied to him about taking a bribe. Plus, his drunkenness proves him unfit to continue occupying the stool, the King ruled.

Antoa Destoolment
Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman was destooled on May 29, 2023, by the Occupant of the Golden Stool.

The chief is reported to have gone against the customarily laid out and accepted procedures in instating his nephew to take over from him while he lives. When he was confronted by his kinsmen and elders to seek the permission of Otumfuo, he reportedly denigrated the King.

After hearing his case, the King ruled against him and ordered his destoolment.
