Asantehene 25th Anniversary: KNUST To Honour Otumfuo
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as part of events to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will hold a four-day programme to honour their Chancellor.
Called the ‘Chancellor’s Week’ and packed with events honouring His Majesty, it will commence on May 7 and end on May 10, the Chairman of the Anniversary’s Planning Committee announced on Monday.
The various schedules for the week are yet to be communicated by the Committee.
Otumfuo has been the Chancellor of the KNUST since 2005. He is the first to occupy the position which before the 1992 Constitution was preserved for the country’s heads of state.
The leadership of the King over the institution in the past 19 years has seen growth and development with the school sweeping numerous international and national accolades.
The school in 2023 was ranked the best in the provision of quality education (SDG 4) globally by Times Higher Education.
Meanwhile, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the University of Ghana, Legon, will be honouring the King as well.
His Majesty the King will this year be 25 years on the Golden Stool. It will be 25 years of unparalleled and distinguished leadership.
A lot of events have been booked to mark the Silver Jubilee including a Thanksgiving service, a series of durbars, firework activities and dinners.
